The need to post more

OK. So I seem to be unable to continuosly be posting on this blog. I need to get in the habbit of writing more of my thoughs and experiences on what happens to me in the field. I also need to find that ballance between my personal thoughts and opinions and not being too specific that it interfiers with journalism ethics. Hopefully the more I post, the more that ballance will be found.

And for those of you who are interested. I am in Worchester at the federal court covering the araignment of Chuck Turner (Boston city councle member) who is alleged to have taken a bribe by federal agents and also lying about it to them.

Blue Angels come to Brunswick, ME

Matt Noyes, the morning weather guy for NECN and I went to Bruswick, ME to fly with the Blue Angeles...well he did and I watched. But we put together this amazing piece and after the weekend, Matt posted this nice entry on his website:

I think next year I am going to suggest doing a Nat PKG so that I can go up and fly with them. Until then, enjoy the story.

Here is the Nat PKG I put together with the story.

Team NECN Rides the PMC

On Saturday August 2nd, I rode one day of the two day Pan-Mass Challenge. On day two I joined up with a reporter and followed Team NECN as they rode from Bourne out to Province-town on the tip of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The following is the story we filed Sunday August 3rd in the afternoon after the team finished.

And I Thought I Loved My Fish!!!

When I walked into work the other day I had the pleasure of meeting the published author and previous writer for the Boston Glove, Vicki Croke. That day Vicki and I were to go out to Tuft's Animal Hospital out in Grafton, Massachusetts to meet a very unique animal and his owner. That owner is Mark and the animal, well his name is Boswell and he is a goose. You might be thinking "so, there is a guy and he has a pet goose, what is the point and why are they at an animal hospital." Well Mark had been taking Boswell to Tuft's to get chemotherapy, yup I said it, chemotherapy, a $20,000 cancer treatment (no insurance)...for a goose. I was skeptical at first, until I met this dynamic duo. The relationship that Mark shares with his pet, his friend, is a connection that is....magical. Take a look at this special feature about the special bond felt between an animal and their owner.

A Sad Story Out Of A Small Vermont Town

Here is a story that made national headlines. On Tuesday, I headed north three hours to Randolph, Vermont with my reporter and his intern. We were heading to cover the Amber Alert called for Brooke Bennett, a twelve year old girl who went missing that Friday. As we were in Randolph that evening, reporting on events, the station called telling us we were going to be spending the night in Vermont and continue to cover the story the next day. Unfortunately, the more and more we found out about her disappearance, the farther into the rabbit hole we went. As the events unfolded more and more media were showing up in this small Vermont town; crews from Vermont and Massachusetts, the network news crews, and even a crew from as far away as Albany, NY and New Jersey made their appearance. At the end of that second day in VT, just as a town-wide memorial service was about to begin to pray for her safe return, her body was found down a dirt road. The following stories were filed during our time in Randolph.
